This boutique furniture and finishes store, completed in 2018, has been envisioned to be a customer experience center to showcase exclusive designer furniture brands that have carved out a niche in the market. Located in the CBD of the city, the store was designed to create a space that showcases a curated collection of furniture from various brands.
The aesthetic has been achieved by the furniture which forms the foreground to an extensive collection of veneers which are also retailed out of this space.
The design intent was to create a contrast between high end pieces of furniture placed in a raw and seemingly unfinished shell to heighten the experience of luxury. The key design element is The Cube, where furniture setting is placed within a curated shell, each exhibiting a unique design language while also incorporating the display of veneer panels. The Cubes make a dramatic statement with mirrored ceiling to frame an experience by instilling in the customer that the bedroom is a place that can be elevated beyond a simple place to snooze. The ceiling visually opens up the mock bedroom upwards and helps to create the illusion of expanded space and light whilst adding a touch of glamour. The cube is accompanied by a suspended panel, etched with specifications of the furniture displayed within whist craftily showcasing the finest selection of veneer. The panel is designed for easy removal and replacement for every new range of design being showcased. Lighting is carefully placed around the periphery draws attention to the setting.
One of the cubes encloses The Deluxe Corner. The space represents luxury and glamour. Wainscoting wrapped around the walls aesthetically ties together the spaces, for a greater visual appeal and helps elevate the furniture pieces housed in it. A Collection of veneer swatches are displayed in various formats that seamlessly blend with the nature of the space, creating The Veneer Installation. The Verandah, which is a step out balcony has been designed as an area to store and display raw veneer sheets and to emulate the final finish to the customer. This area also doubles up as a space to showcase outdoor furniture brands and functions as a discussions space as well.
The Visual Merchandise, the cushions and upholstery is provided with a display unit along with a dedicated installation where designer chairs are propped against full height bronze mirrors and gently lit from atop with custom made corrugated suspension lamps, which helps make a statement and accentuate the craftsmanship of the chair. The interiors are kept minimal with black, white & grey tones as a backdrop to Mid-Century pieces of furniture with a few accent pieces bringing in color to the space.
