Giga Cars

tags

Location: Bangalore, Karnataka
Year of completion: 2021
Area: 75,000 sqft

The project is a new retail concept for second hand cars with a large display area.
The program includes a visitor experience center as well as an office for the showroom. The architecture of the showroom has been designed in a way to create an iconic structure that reflects the brand identity and creates a strong storyline for the upcoming establishments.

Unlike a new car showroom, where one model of each variant is showcased, the brief here was to be able to display 500 cars. This was achieved by making a large well lit shed to house the cars, directly connected to the customer retail space. A viewing gallery was created on the upper level of the showroom to showcase the cars in the shed.

A reception/ lobby is planned in the ground floor leading one up to one of a kind experience center on the first floor that houses discussion & transaction zones along with the viewing gallery. A café is also planned to add to the visitor experience.

Giga brand colors are an important part of the narrative and are infused into the space through various design elements. These colors are taken into the flooring, the glass partitions, open shelving and even the façade. The facade is designed in colored cement board louvers. These louvers protect the South and West faces of the glazing from harsh sunlight while providing an iconic look for the building creating a brand identity for the upcoming showrooms.

The interior space is designed to be light, bright and airy. A North light truss brings in ample natural light throughout the day to avoid artificial sources of lighting.
A planter edge is designed around the entire experience center. This brings nature into the office space and allows for fresh air throughout the day.

The warm, yet neutral look and feel is achieved through inexpensive materials like cement flooring in various colour tones, false ceilings made in cement board, and storage units which also act as space dividers made of plywood boxes and slotted angles. Simple metal and glass partitions separate the office spaces from the visitor area and are designed with signage elements directing visitors to the various transaction zones.
