Hongirana Residence

The site for this project used to house a poultry farm, until the client purchased it to set up his dream - a country side home. Effectively, a place where he and his family would move to after his retirement. With Bangalore sprawling in every possible direction, the team at Praxis designed this project hoping that it would retain the essence of the client s dream even a decade later.

The program bifurcates the clients requirement into two blocks - the entertainment wing and the quieter family wing
- the two separated by a landscaped court, with the connections between the two blocks appropriately located.

Passive Cooling techniques have been visualised to help mitigate the effects of anticipated increased temperatures over the years, via shallow water features that are located in the direction of the prevailing breeze, hollow roof slabs that accommodate thermal insulation, UV reflective roof tiles and a low eaved version of a traditional tiled roof that shades the terrace floor of the entertainment wing.
